1. The Service

Locals Index is a curated directory providing an index of local businesses and services, primarily located in Alaska. The content is compiled by Locals Index from publicly available sources and is provided for informational purposes only.

2. User Accounts

2.1 Registration

You may browse the Service without registering. However, to utilize certain features, such as saving or favoriting listings, you must create a user account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process.

2.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify Locals Index immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Content and Intellectual Property

3.1 Locals Index Content

All content provided on the Service (excluding business data sourced publicly, or provided directly by the business) including, but not limited to, text, graphics, logos, and service design, is the property of Locals Index or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

3.2 Business Listing Data

Locals Index collects and displays information about businesses from public sources. Businesses may also submit data (corrections or new listings) to Locals Index for review. By submitting information, the business warrants that the data is accurate and grants Locals Index a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, and non-exclusive license to display, modify, and use that content within the scope of the Service.

4. Business Listing Policies

4.1 Listing Removal

Locals Index reserves the right, at its sole discretion and without prior notice, to remove or suspend any listing that:

• We determine it is not an active, legitimate business entity (e.g., lacks a current business license or permit).
• Violates any section of these Terms.
• We deem inappropriate, misleading, or harmful to users or the Service.

4.2 Future Changes to Service

Locals Index may, in the future, introduce paid features, such as featured listings or premium placement. Your continued use of the Service after the introduction of such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new pricing and terms associated with those features.

5. Limitation of Liability and Disclaimer

Locals Index acts solely as an indexing service. While we strive for accuracy, all directory information is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

Locals Index disclaims all liability for any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the listings, or for any damage, loss, injury, or adverse outcome arising from a user's interaction, transaction, or relationship with a business listed in the Index.

Any disputes regarding the quality of service, accuracy of information, or conduct of a listed business must be resolved directly between the user and the listed business.

6. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of Alaska, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
